St. Ursula Academy is sending two teams into state final four competition for the second consecutive year.
The second-ranked Lady Arrows (26-1) volleyball team captured their ninth Division I regional title in the past 13 years with a straight sets win (25-14, 25-18, 29-27) over North Royalton (22-5) on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Norwalk High School in Norwalk, Ohio.
The unranked Arrows (13-5-3) soccer team defeated Belleville Clear Fork (18-3-0) 1-0 to win the Division II regional championship on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Ashland Community Stadium, in Ashland, Ohio. Ironically, it was the same Clear Fork team that St. Ursula defeated 5-2 in the regional final.
For St. Ursula’s volleyball team playing for a state championship is nothing new. The Lady Arrows won the state title in 2010 and finished as the runners-up last year. They will play on Thursday, November 8, at 4:00 p.m. at the Nutter Center at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Their opponent will be sixth-ranked Cincinnati Ursuline (21-6), the only team to defeat the Arrows this year.
The Lady Arrows soccer team will play No. 1 Cuyahoga Fall Walsh Jesuit (18-0-2) on Tuesday, November 6 at Perkins High School, in Sandusky, Ohio. Last year they defeated Walsh Jesuit 1-0 to advance to the state championship game before falling 2-0 to Columbus St. Francis DeSales.
