Notre Dame Academy’s Hope Poolos is committing to play lacrosse for Ohio Wesleyan University where she will study Health and Human Kinetics, in order to be a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. While playing lacrosse for NDA, Ms. Pooles was JV MVP Award winner, Athlete of the Week, Varsity Coaches Award, Second Team All-District, First Team All-City, NDA All-Academic, Ohio School Girls Lacrosse Association Academic All-Ohio, US Lacrosse HS All-Academic, and was nominated for US Lacrosse HS All-American. While running cross country for NDA she was the MVP of the JV team.
“My NDA coaches taught me that you can never give up even when challenges come your way. It is all about how you battle back and get back up,” Ms. Poolos explained. “I am thankful for my coaches because without them, I would not be where I am today. Running up and down the field, I can feel the adrenaline start to rush as I know I am not playing for myself, but I am playing for my school and my teammates who are right there next to me.” Ms. Pooles has played lacrosse all four years and has been a captain for the past two years.
She also played varsity soccer and cross country and participated in student council, Diplomats, Math Club, Pep Club, Princess Club, Big Sis/Lil Sis, Mr. NDA Core team and Link Crew. She has received academic honors every semester since her freshman year. Ms. Pooles is an AP US History, AP English, AP Calculus, Honors English, Honors Math, Honors Science, Honors Theology, Honors Psychology, and Honors World History student and has also taken three years of French.
Ms. Pooles is involved in giving back as well; she has gone to Appalachia in Harlan, Kentucky, as well as Appalachia At Home with NDA Campus Ministry. In the summer, she has served in the Migrant Ministries Program and has volunteered at the Marathon Golf Classic in the iTaalk Tent which is foundation raising money for Autistic kids.
