Clay High School announced that Mike Vicars will succeed Mike Donnelly as the new varsity head football coach for the 2013 season.

Vicars was the head coach at Geona from 2007 through 2011 racking up an impressive 56-7 record before stepping down to assume an assistant coaching position as the offensive coordinator with the team this past season.  His Comets teams captured four straight Suburban Lakes League conference titles and made the state playoffs each year that he was at the helm.  In 2008 his team reached the state D-IV semifinals

His overall career record is 154-101 in 23 seasons as head coach at Holgate, Ada, Hilltop, Delta, and Genoa.
