Coaches from each school’s fall sports team met at Whitmer High School on August 4 to discuss their team’s prospects and vote on their favorites to win the conference in each sport.
The Whitmer Panthers edged St. John’s Jesuit by one point (46-45) in the polling and was tabbed the favorite to win the first ever Three Rivers Athletic Conference football championship. Both teams earned four first place votes. Central Catholic edged Fremont Ross and St. Francis de Sales by one point (32-31) for third place in the poll.
In volleyball, the coaches selected perennial powerhouse St. Ursula Academy to finish first. Notre Dame Academy finished second, Findlay third, and Central Catholic fourth in voting.
St. John’s was the preseason favorite in boy’s soccer and St. Ursula was picked to top the girl’s division. St. Ursula was picked to finish first in girl’s tennis and golf, while St. John’s was the favorite in boy’s golf.
