With the opening round of the state football playoffs concluded, the Three Rivers Athletic Conference still has one team alive and moving on.

Unbeated No. 1 seed Central Catholic advanced to the second round by handily defeating Defiance 69-14 in the opening round of the Divsion III playoffs.  The Fighting Irish, who captured the DII state title last year and in 2005, are seeking a second consecutive championship at the Division III level.

Whitmer, who fell in last year’s DI championship game to Cincinnati Moeller 20-12, had their playoff hopes dashed by Hudson in the opening round of the Division I playoffs.  The third-seeded Explorers avenged last year’s playoff loss to the Panthers with a 31-7 victory.  Whitmers closes out its season with an overall 6-5 record.

Appearing in its first playoff games since 2009, St. Francis de Sales fell to Avon 38-14 in the opening round of the Division II tournament.  The Knights wrap up the season at 8-3 overall.
